She was using her friend’s phone. Rosa described the green case, the silver star, and a small scratch beside the camera. She also named the morning class she had attended.

Rosa arrived twenty minutes later with a photo card. Yuki compared the name with the class list. She asked Rosa to unlock the phone before taking it away. Rosa entered her code, and the home screen opened with a picture of her dog. All the details matched. Yuki asked her to sign the lost-property book beside the time of collection.

A Safer Pocket

Rosa thanked Yuki for protecting the phone. She explained that it had fallen from the open side pocket of her gym bag. Before leaving, she moved it to a zipped pocket. Yuki closed the lost-property record and returned the drawer key to its hook. The careful steps had taken extra time, but they made sure the phone went to the right person.
