Language practice works best when everyone feels safe to stay, speak, and participate.

Language Cafe combines reporting, blocking, room moderation, and support review so users can control their interactions and staff can act on harmful behavior.

Zero tolerance

Harassment, hate, grooming, threats, and scams are not allowed.

Severe abuse can lead to immediate suspension, content removal, and outside escalation where required.

User controls

You can block, report, leave, and stop replying.

The app provides direct account-level controls for messaging, room access, and user reports.

Moderator tools

Hosts and moderators can manage live-room behavior in real time.

Room roles support muting, removal, and access management to keep cafes on topic and safe.

Standards

Safety standards

Language Cafe is intended for respectful language learning and community interaction. The following behavior is not allowed anywhere in the service.

Abuse and exploitation

  • Harassment, bullying, stalking, or targeted intimidation
  • Threats of violence or self-harm coercion
  • Sexual exploitation, grooming, or content involving minors

Identity and integrity

  • Impersonation or deceptive relationship claims
  • Scams, phishing, fraud, or manipulative fundraising
  • Sharing private information without permission

Hate and discrimination

  • Hate speech or slurs targeting protected characteristics
  • Dehumanizing, violent, or exclusionary identity-based abuse
  • Encouraging others to attack or harass a person or group

Private contact

Messaging safety

Direct messaging is useful for continuing language practice, but private communication needs clear boundaries and fast exit paths.

  • A first message may begin as a pending conversation request rather than an open conversation.
  • If someone is unwanted, stop replying and use the block tool so the account cannot continue contacting you through normal messaging paths.
  • Report scams, sexual content, impersonation, threats, and repeated harassment.
  • Never share passwords, verification codes, payment credentials, or sensitive documents.

Live spaces

Communities and cafes

Community spaces and live cafes create more public or semi-public interaction, which is why LangCafe includes roles, visibility settings, and moderator tools.

Community safety

  • Use group rules to set expectations for discussion and membership.
  • Choose public, request-only, or invite-only access based on sensitivity.
  • Report harmful posts, impersonation, or escalating behavior early.

Cafe safety

  • Hosts and moderators can move speakers, mute users, and remove participants.
  • Leave any room immediately if the topic or behavior becomes unsafe.
  • Do not record room audio without explicit permission from every participant.

Tools

Report and block tools

The fastest way to help us review a problem is to use the in-app report flow, because it ties the report to the relevant user, post, or conversation.

Report reasons

  • Spam or scams
  • Harassment or hate
  • Impersonation
  • Sexual content
  • Violence or threats
  • Other harmful conduct

What blocking does

  • Prevents ordinary continued interaction with the blocked account
  • Helps end unwanted messaging
  • Can be combined with report submission when conduct violates the rules

Support escalation

  • Open a support ticket when extra explanation or screenshots are needed.
  • Use the report category for moderation issues that need staff follow-up.
  • Email support if you cannot access the app safely.

Action

Moderation actions

Staff and authorized moderators may take action based on severity, evidence, risk to other users, and repeat behavior.

  • Warnings and educational outreach
  • Content removal or visibility restrictions
  • Conversation closure, room removal, or feature limits
  • Temporary suspensions or permanent bans
  • Preservation of records and outside escalation where legally required

Practical guidance

Safety tips and emergency limits

Product tools help, but personal caution still matters.

  • Keep early conversations inside LangCafe until trust is established.
  • Be careful about moving to off-platform messaging or sharing live location.
  • Trust your instincts and leave immediately if a conversation turns manipulative or sexualized.
  • Language Cafe is not an emergency service. If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first.
