You can permanently delete your Language Cafe account at any time.

If you can still sign in, the in-app flow is the fastest and most reliable path because it performs re-authentication before deletion begins.

Fastest route

Profile → Settings → Delete account

The app guides you through re-authentication and a final typed confirmation before deletion starts.

Security check

The flow asks you to verify identity again.

Depending on how you sign in, you may need your password, Google account, or phone verification code.

Retention limits

Some records may remain temporarily.

Shared content, moderation history, legal records, and backups can require limited retention even after the account itself is deleted.

Preparation

Before you start

Deletion is intended to be permanent. Make sure you no longer need the account, profile identity, messages, or access to saved practice history before you confirm.

  • Check that you can still sign in with the account you want to delete.
  • Make sure you know which provider is linked to the account.
  • Save anything you personally need before you continue.
  • If the account is involved in an open safety review, some records may be retained.

Recommended path

In-app deletion steps

The app includes a dedicated flow that confirms intent and re-verifies the account before deletion.

  1. Open the app. Go to Profile → Settings → Delete account.
  2. Re-authenticate. Depending on your login method, the app may ask for your password, a Google sign-in prompt, or a phone verification code.
  3. Review the warning. Read the deletion notice and confirm you understand the impact.
  4. Type DELETE. The app requires a typed confirmation before it proceeds.
  5. Finish the flow. Once confirmed, the account is scheduled for deletion.

Fallback

If you cannot sign in

If access is lost, contact account support from the email address connected to the account when possible.

  • Email the account identifier you still control and explain that you need deletion help.
  • Use the subject line "Account Deletion Request" and contact account@languagescafe.com.
  • We may ask for enough information to verify ownership before acting.

Removal

What is removed

The goal of deletion is to end account access and remove or disassociate account-linked data from active product use where reasonably possible.

  • Authentication access and login credentials tied to the deleted account
  • Profile records such as username reservations, preferences, and visibility surfaces
  • Account-linked follow, block, and notification-preference records
  • Many user-created records that are directly tied to the deleted account identity

Retention limits

What may remain for a limited time

Some data cannot always disappear immediately or completely at the same time as the core account record.

  • Shared content or conversation history that affects other users
  • Support tickets, reports, and moderation records
  • Records needed for legal compliance, fraud prevention, or dispute handling
  • Backups and disaster-recovery copies that cycle out later

We do not promise that every historical reference disappears instantly from every system. Instead, we remove or disassociate active account data first and retain limited records only when there is a valid operational, legal, or safety reason.

Timeline

Deletion timeline

Exact timing can vary, but this is the normal process we target.

  • Deletion begins after the final in-app confirmation or a verified support request.
  • Access to the deleted account ends as the process starts.
  • Active-system cleanup is generally targeted within 30 days.
  • Backup cleanup and residual record expiry can take longer.
