A Sunny Plan
Lena and Jo plan a picnic in the park. Lena makes two cheese sandwiches. Jo brings grapes and cold water. At eleven, they meet near the park gate. The sky is gray, but they hope the rain will wait.
Rain on the Path
The friends walk toward the lake. Then large drops fall on the path. The wind moves the trees, and the rain becomes strong. Lena opens an umbrella. Jo holds the food bag. They run back to Lena’s apartment nearby.
A Picnic Inside
They put a clean blanket on the living-room floor. Jo plays quiet music. Lena puts the sandwiches and grapes on two plates. They sit on the blanket and look at the rain through the window. The room feels warm and bright.
A Good Afternoon
After lunch, Lena and Jo play a card game. They laugh when Jo drops all the cards. The picnic is not in the park, but it is still fun. Before Jo leaves, they choose another day for a walk by the lake.
