A Quiet Bell

Iris rides her bike to class. At a corner, she tries to ring the bell. It makes no sound. She stops and checks it. The bell is old, and one small part is broken. Iris walks the bike for the last street.

At the Bike Shop

After class, Iris visits a bike shop. She finds a simple silver bell. The worker shows her how it fits on the handle. Iris buys the bell and one small tool. She puts both things in her backpack.

A Five-Minute Job

At home, Iris removes the old bell. She puts the new one in the same place. She turns the small screw with the tool. The bell must stay still, but it must not touch the brake. Iris checks both parts.

Clear and Bright
