Choose a Clear Place
Put the plant where you can see it often. Keep the pot on a plate or tray. Read the small care card if the plant has one. Different plants may need different light, so keep the card nearby.
Check Before Watering
Touch the top of the soil with one finger. If the care card says to wait for dry soil, do not add water while it feels wet. When you water, add it slowly and stop if water fills the plate.
Watch the Leaves
Look at the leaves once a week. Remove a leaf only when it is fully dry and comes away easily. Turn the pot a little if one side always faces the window. Keep notes if changes are hard to remember.
Ask When Unsure
If the plant changes quickly, take a clear photo. Show it to the shop where you bought the plant or to a person who knows that kind. The best next step can depend on the plant, the room, and the season.
